Go Pink - October Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Posted by Tutu Heaven on 9/17/2014

October is just around the corner, which means it’s time to Think Pink! Whether you’re doing a color run, a Susan G. Komen event, or want to help raise awareness of the need to continue to fund Breast Cancer research, we can help you to get your pink on!

National, regional, and local events abound, from “Save the Ta-Tas” ribbon events to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Shop Pink initiative; there are hundreds of social reasons to don pink in October. The underlying, very serious reasons, of course, are the 1 in every 8 women worldwide who will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in the sometime in their lives. The BCRF provided 200 international researchers over $50 million dollars in grants in 2013, and 91¢ of every dollar raised for BCRF goes to research and direct awareness campaigns.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events are often a cornerstone of local organizations’ Breast Cancer awareness and fundraising initiatives. If you’ve never considered forming a team to participate, maybe 2014 is your year! While many athletes run the race, just as many participants walk the course to raise funds for cancer research. The first Race for the Cure was held in 1983 with just 800 participants. By 2013, the organization had expanded to 150 countries and over 1.5 million participants worldwide.

If you’re hosting your own race team, consider our tutus to go. We provide an attractively packaged tutu in light or dark pink, decorated with a silk flower waist pin, a crocheted headband, and a silk flower hair clip. All of this comes in a decorative cello bag and has its own raffle/gift tag. If your company is considering sponsoring a team, wouldn’t this be a fantastic way to honor their participation? Tutus to go also make fantastic raffle items or party favors for fundraising activities, like “hot pink parties,” which raise funds with fancy dinner dances.
